Bio :
Deputy Chief Billy Goldfeder, EFO, a firefighter since 1973 and aChief Fire Officer since 1982, serves as a Deputy Fire Chief of the Loveland-Symmes FD in Ohio. He is Vice Chair of the International Association of Fire Chiefs Safety, Health and Survival Section and is also a member of the Board of Directors of the September 11th Families Association as well as the Board of Directors of the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation. He serves as an Associate/Contributing Editor for FIRE ENGINEERING, FIRE RESCUE, FIREHOUSE and FIREHOUSE.Com. His monthly column "Close Calls" appears in FIREHOUSE Magazine and his bi-weekly radio show "Through The Smoke" is hosted on Firehouse.com.
Chief Goldfeder has served on several NFPA and IAFC Committees, is on the National Firefighter Near-Miss Reporting Task Force (IAFC) and provides technical review for NIOSH's Fire Fighter Fatality Investigation and Prevention Program. An instructor and speaker at many fire conferences including IAFC's F.R.I., he has instructed thousands of firefighters in North America firefighter survival training through his Firefighters Scared Straight program.
