Bio :
John Eisel is the Fire Chief of the Violet Township (Ohio) Fire Department, a combination agency providing Fire and EMS services to a suburban community with a population of more than 36,000, serving 3 different cities and unincorporated areas. During his 29-year career with the fire service, he has worked his way through the position of Firefighter/Paramedic, Company Officer, and Assistant Chief. John was appointed to the position of Fire Chief in 2008, and maintains his Paramedic Certification.
As a graduate of the Ohio Fire Executive Program, John is paying that forward as a member of the Ohio Fire Executive Oversight Committee. He is an Instructor with the Ohio Fire Chiefs’ Association for the Fire Officer I and II programs, and is a Blue Card Certified incident Commander and Instructor. John also serves as Vice-President of the Central Ohio Fire Chiefs. Additionally, he has served as Director of Legislative Affairs for the Ohio Association of Professional Firefighters. He was recently appointed to the position of director-at-large board member of the IAFC Safety, Health, and Survival Section.
John maintains professional memberships with the International Association of Fire Chiefs (IAFC), International Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF), Ohio Fire Chiefs’ Association (OFCA) and the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA). He has received the Knights of Columbus Blue Coat Award, Ohio Fire Chiefs’ Association Heroism Award, the Perry Township Division of Fire Extinguished Service Award, and the Columbus Ohio Division of Fire Distinguished Service Award. |
